Ingredients for Italian Orange Zest Spaghetti:
- 1 lb (454 grams) of dry spaghetti
- One 1lb can of peeled tomatoes
- One 1lb can of unsweetened tomato sauce
- Zest of 1 orange
- 2 tsp ground oregano
- one quarter tsp dried red pepper flakes
- Salt
- Pepper
- Ground Garlic
- Parmesan cheese
To make your spaghetti sauce, pour one can of peeled tomatoes in juice into a pan and add one can of unsweetened tomato sauce. Sprinkle in a few dashes of salt and pepper. Then for the genuine Italian touch, sprinkle in about 10 dashes of ground garlic and the zest from one orange. Add 2 teaspoons of ground oregano, a quarter of a teaspoon of dried red pepper flakes and stir. Cook this sauce mixture over a medium heat, stirring every now and then until it bubbles. Then reduce the heat to low and continue to heat for around 25 minutes until the sauce has thickened nicely.
Whilst your sauce is thickening you can prepare your spaghetti pasta itself. This is the really easy bit. Boil just under a half a panful of water, add a pinch of salt then pop the spaghetti in. Cook in accordance with the instructions on the spaghetti packet then drain the water from the spaghetti.
To serve, place your cooked spaghetti pasta on the plate with a sight recess in the middle, into which you can pour your sauce. Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top for a delicious and zesty meal.
