There are several different ways of cooking scalloped potatoes.  One popular example is scalloped potatoes au gratin which cooks the sliced spuds with cheese.  The recipe on this page doesn't use cheese however, as the sausages contained in it make a deliciously substantial meal without the need for cheese as well.

Kielbasa is a type of Polish sausage which is also quite popular in the USA. You can either use home made kielbasa from our previous recipe, or shop-bought kielbasa if a store in your area sells it.

Kielbasa is a polish sausage made from pork, herbs and spices.  In some parts of the world like the USA and, of course, Poland, you may be able to find Kielbasa in general stores.  In other countries it may be much harder to find however, and you may need to visit a specialist Polish shop to get it.  

Rather than go hunting for it in a shop though,  you may want to know how to make your own homemade kielbasa yourself.
