Quick Boiled Kielbasa Dinner Recipe
This boiled kielbasa dinner recipe is a quick way to cook a nutritional and filling meal when you may have a busy schedule and don't want to have a microwaved meal.
Kielbasa is a type of Polish sausage which is also quite popular in the USA. You can either use home made kielbasa from our previous recipe, or shop-bought kielbasa if a store in your area sells it.
This quick recipe serves 3 people.
Ingredients for boiled kielbasa dinner:
- 1 bowl full of cabbage
- Three quarters of a bowl of carrots
- 1 bowl of potatoes
- 1 bowl of kielbasa
- Two onions
- Mayonnaise, butter or mustard
How to make it:
To begin with, let's get all our ingredients chomped into appropriate sizes. Chop your carrots into inch-long pieces (2.25 centimetres), and slice your kielbasa into 1 and a half inch lengths. Cut your cabbages into serving sized wedges, ensuring that you have some of the core on each wedge to keep it together. Peel your potatoes and cut them into halves if small or into quarters if you have large spuds. Slice your onions into half, then into semicircular slices.
Place the cut cabbages in enough water to cover them and heat on medium until the water is boiling. Add your carrots and onion slices, and if necessary more water to cover everything, and boil for a 3 or 4 minutes. Next, add your potatoes and turn everything with a ladle or long handed spoon so that the potatoes are on the bottom. Finally add the kielbasa, ensuring again that there is enough water to cover all of your vegetables. Bring the water to a boil. Cover the pan and simmer for 10 minutes.
Once cooked, drain all of the water and serve. Add mayonnaise, mustard or butter to taste. For a side dish to go with your kielbasa dinner, try our Fried Bread and Onion Noodles Recipe.
